The Energy Specialist is responsible for improving the energy efficiency and reducing costs in all Home Depot facilities which includes Stores, Warehouses and Offices. This position is required to assist in the coordination of energy efficiency projects and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by:
Managing the implementation of retrofits, audits and renewable/sustainable energy projects
Raising the profile of energy conservation
Prepare project business cases
Assist in the investigate, testing and monitoring of new energy saving technologies
Managing existing building automation system with outsourced monitoring company
Assisting Construction/Maintenance in retrofit process for Building Automation System. This role will have annual goals for the spend they manage, supplier management metrics, and customer service metrics to gauge how well they are driving energy efficiency , value for the company and satisfying the needs of their internal customers.
Primary responsibility will be to implement, track, and monitor assigned energy efficiency projects, contribute to sustainable development initiatives and ensure accurate records are maintained and energy monitoring data is collected regularly.
Actively participate in discussion with all Utility companies and obtain information on various rebate program on consumption saving projects which includes lighting, HVAC, Roofing, Plumbing and any other energy related categories.
Assist the department Senior Manger with the developing, coordinating, and implementing the aims and objectives of strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption in Home Depot facilities. This role is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the effectiveness of these policies and strategies, including coordinating quarterly progress reports.
Responsible for the management of the gas and electricity commodity buying Consultant and as member of the Home Depot Energy Committee will assist in the review and approval the presented energy buying strategies.
Responsible for the management of the consultant / vendor that currently provides Energy Management System monitoring services and commissioning.
Part of the team that works on new and refurbishment projects regarding sustainability, energy and water conservation.
Demonstrated experience managing projects of medium complexity, including identifying, maintaining, and/or adjusting the scope and/or resources, and overseeing the formal planning, tracking, and reporting of project performance with regards to schedules, financial and budgetary goals.
Carry out site inspections, reviewing energy audits, prepare feasibility studies and cost estimates, prepare pay-back calculations and report out on recommendations
Demonstrate the ability to accurately analyze information.
Benchmarking energy consumptions against best practice guidelines.
Keep abreast of federal, provincial and utility rebate incentive programs across the country.
Participates or interact with the following business partners; Departments, Store Operations, Public Relations, Supply Chain and Facilities
Accountability;The degree to which energy best practices and compliance are identified, implemented, and sustained. The degree to which data management and reporting are carried out and maintained. The degree with which Company business is conducted in a professional and ethical manner. Experience/Knowledge Required:
Must meet minimum time in position requirements and Performance Management code of “V2″ (Valued Associate – Well Positioned)
Intermediate level of knowledge of energy using systems (lighting systems, plumbing and HVAC) and energy savings measures and technologies for retail commercial or industrial applications
Post secondary education preferred and/or equivalent years of experience
2-3 years of experience supporting & implementing energy efficiency projects for industrial and commercial buildings is preferred.
Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative, be accountable for individual and team results, and motivate self and others to set and achieve high performance standards.
Must demonstrate the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with associates, management and project personnel to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
Project management and technical aptitude and analytical skills are important to support the diverse needs of the department.
Strong written and verbal communications skills; multi-tasking abilities; experience in building partnerships; conflict resolution; effective time and work management, benchmarking, high level of Microsoft Office applications knowledge; supplier management; performance measurement monitoring.
Organized; professional; self-starter; team focused, persuasive, customer service oriented
Travel requirements approx. 25-35%.
