Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Grounds Superintendent & Floral Supervisor responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

LABOURER :

  • Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service. Communicating effectively with Managers & other Supervisors
  • Day to day maintenance of the property
  • Planting/fertilizing & maintaining flower beds, landscape plantings indoors & out
  • Mow, trim, water all turf areas on the resort
  • Prepare landscape areas for repair or construction
  • Clean of the property – litter, animal waste, recycling, hazard trees and yard debris
  • Operate power tools and equipment while using proper personal protective equipment
  • Hand shovel & sweep steps, paths & walkways throughout the Resort
  • Clean building exteriors and special capital improvement projects
  • Maintain skating rinks and cross-country ski trails during the winter
  • Adhere to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned

FLORIST :

  • Responsible for all of the floral requirements of the Hotel. This includes but is not limited to the care & maintenance of all indoor plants, seasonal crops & floral requirements for weddings & conferences
  • Assist the CSAC team in selling & promoting floral service
  • Will assist in the maintenance of the greenhouse, flower shop, shrub compound & storage areas
  • Responsible for special seasonal displays & decorations in guest areas

Qualifications:

  • Ability for flower arranging, indoor & outdoor plant care & decorating is a asset
  • A good understanding & experience in container gardening, plant maintenance, indoor plants as well as trees & shrub an asset
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Individuals who have a desire to excel in the floral & landscape industry
  • Trustworthy, reliable, punctual, responsible & dependable
  • Preference will be given to colleagues who posses relevant experience (floral design crafts & decorating)
  • Preference will be given to person who posses (supervisory skills, guest/public contact)
  • This is a guest contact position & will require the incumbent to meet with Hotel guests and potential Hotel guests who plan on coming to the Hotel, so an impeccable presentation is required
  • Must be self motivated & work independently
  • Must possess a Valid Alberta Drivers License
  • Must be in good physical condition, able to work outdoors & in the elements and meet the physical & environmental requirements below
  • Must be able to work safely and ensure co-workers are working safely
  • CPR & First Aid certifications are a asset

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Walking 5-10 km per shift, Lifting, bending and pushing throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Strength and agility to work and operate equipment safely so as not to harm others or the environment
  • Physically able to lift 55lbs (25 kg)

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
