The hotel operation encompasses the operation of rooms, incredible signature cabins, 9 food & beverage outlets, golf course, riding stables, and recreation facilities including boating, cycling, tennis, skating, skiing, etc. The Lodge is recognized as one of Canada’s premier resorts and has been distinguished by receiving awards such as the #1 Golf Resort in Canada by Score magazine and Meeting & Incentive Pinnacle award to name but a few. FJPL is located in the heart of Jasper National Park.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Reports directly to the General Manager and
liaise
with the Regional Director, Sales & Marketing
Directing all Sales and Marketing initiatives for the hotel, ensuring that the strategic planning process is integrated into the day to day operations of the department
Participating as an active member of the Hotel Executive Committee and the Regional Sales Team
Directing the activities of outside agencies and internal staff on local and in‑house advertising campaigns.
Supervising the production and distribution of literature, collateral materials, room displays, audio visual aids
Preparing and administering the hotel’s marketing plan and budget to achieve total hotel revenue goal
Overseeing the hotel’s Revenue Management operations, decisions and strategies
Leading a motivated, competent staff consistent with hotel, regional and corporate needs through implementation of approved Human Resources and Sales Programs
Allocating quotas and objectives and evaluates results through proactive performance management
Providing on‑going sales direction to direct reports by conducting and implementing a coaching call program and provides guidance and direction on the development of segment action plans
Oversee Edmonton Regional Sales Office
Ensuring the integrity of the key account/key prospect data base and monitors staff input for accuracy, thoroughness and coverage of the local area
Preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly annual reports, budgets, marketing plan, strategy plans as required
Co‑ordinating and conducting periodic pricing reviews
Maintain key partnerships and key account relationships
Taking an active role in regional tourism organizations and DMO’s
Ensuring effective Revenue Management with a mandate toward the optimization of revenue and occupancy and negotiates rates accordingly
Working closely with the Public Relations and Programming managers to ensure maximum results from combined sales and public relations activities
Ensuring a clean and safe working environment with active participation in Health & Safety
Oversee Conference Service and Catering
Schedule effective business trips and appointments within assigned markets
Participate in sites, FAMs and industry trade shows
Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Director of Sales & Marketing required
Resort Experience an asset
Minimum of five years hotel sales management experience required.
Bachelors Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree preferred.
Previous experience working with a luxury brand is a strong asset
Must be results oriented with ability to be very flexible.
Excellent understanding of all market segments to include Leisure and Business Transient, group and tour.
Excellent communications skills- interpersonal, written and public/media relations
Computer literacy (Opera, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to understand and interpret financial data.
Positive attitude and supportive, team based approach towards the attainment of the hotel’s goals.
Ability to travel and work flexible hours and days.
An established involvement with and leadership of revenue management theory and practice required.
A proven record of leadership and team development necessary
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal required
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Visa Requirements:
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
