Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Canada’s Western Mountain Region is seeking a Regional Group Sales Manager with a strong background in the California and Southwestern U.S. Group Market. We are looking for an individual who will secure new business for the region, achieving room night and revenue goals, and complement our dynamic regional team. The winning candidate will be strategic, assertive, passionate, creative and positive. This position will report to the Director of Group Sales of The Fairmont Banff Springs and Chateau Lake Louise.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Group Sales, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service
Accountable for booking group business in the assigned Market and supporting the other regional sales managers
Active in developing new business and the promotion of existing business.
Develop Sales action plan with quarterly quotas
Keep accurate records of potential customers & follow through on all potential business
Quote and negotiate prices within established parameters
Upon closing, coordinate and follow up with convention services, catering and/or other hotel departments to ensure delivery of hotel’s promised services
Utilize Opera SFA / S&C System to track, solicit, book and follow up accounts
Develop relationships within the Global Sales Office network of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, and other partner organizations such as DMO’s
Implement and participate in sites, FAMS, BDT’s, industry trade shows and regular property visits
Schedule effective business trips and appointments within assigned markets
Participate in prescribed training and special projects
Collect market and competitive intelligence to assess and implement strategy and long term goals
Assist as directed, with development of competitive intelligence and in the preparation of the Marketing Plan, especially as it relates to the assigned market
Independently responsible for achievement of sales activities and all objectives outlined in the action plan
Handle special projects as assigned
Support and encourage positive team approach
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree and/or Hotel Management Degree and minimum three years of successful hotel Sales Manager experience
Experience with the California Group Market.
Motivated to work independently and potentially from an in-market home office
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Computer literate with Opera SFA / S&C, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Office desirable
Must be results oriented and flexible, supporting a team-based approach to goal attainment
Proven ability to prospect new business
Proven ability to close business and maximize potential of existing accounts
Ability to build strong personal relationships with clients and GSO’s
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
