Housekeeping Training Manager
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, developing and coaching a diverse team of Housekeeping Leaders and approximately 160 Housekeeping Colleagues. The Housekeeping Management team is a dynamic group committed to excellence.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Ensures the highest levels of guest service through the application of all corporate and property standards and policies
  • Champion JD Power scores and improvement initiative
  • Overseeing the Housekeeping Training Zone Training Program
  • Train all new colleagues in Fairmont Standards
  • Facilitate the Housekeeping Orientation
  • Adapt the Housekeeping Training Program to the constant new demands of our working environment
  • Ensures the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance are achieved in the department and throughout the hotel
  • Ensures lost and found policies are followed accurately and consistently
  • Ensures the ongoing professional development and growth of Leaders and Colleagues within the department
  • Ensures high morale through recognition and the removal of identified barriers
  • Ability to adapt to the challenges of a young, evolving work force
  • Conducts regular inspections of guest rooms and public spaces, including all VIP’s and FPC members
  • Support interviewing and recruitment for the Housekeeping Department
  • Assists in effectively managing colleague relations within the department through involvement in performance appraisals, recognition and incentive programs, and communication meetings
  • Direct responsibility for updating departmental Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with corporate standards
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Engineering and the Front Office departments
  • Maximizes hotel profitability by properly managing training expenses, labour and other material resources
  • Champion our Health and Safety: Training, Audits, and Adherence to Policies
  • Auditing the Housekeeping trainers for quality and standards
  • Reviewing and passing all new hires from training to full time colleagues
  • Creating retraining programs based on needed of individual colleagues
  • Audit all colleagues at least 2 a year for quality standards as well as safe work practices
  • Review and renew all training binders manuals to insure they are current with all polices practices on a yearly basis
  • Conduct end of training reviews will all new hires to look for information to better our training practices
  • Create streamline boarding practices for all new hires
  • Personally check on the progress and competencies of all new hires within the first 30 days of being released from training
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeper


  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years supervisory or management within a Housekeeping department
  • College diploma in Hospitality and Hotel Management an asset
  • Proven training skills and or having been a departmental trainer
  • Excellent health and safety record, being part of a health and safety committee and asset
  • Strong organizational, leadership, follow up and communication skills
  • Dynamic, energetic, creative and thrives under pressure
  • Proactive with a meticulous eye for detail
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and create strategies for improvement while being innovative and creative
  • Enthusiastic and positive personality with the ability to build strong relationships with others
  • Energetic and self-motivated, demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service and colleague satisfaction
