Golf Ambassador (Spring/Summer 2015)

The Golf Course Ambassador position is an integral piece of the golf experience. You will be the face of The Fairmont Banff Springs on-course. Guests will look to you for advice during their golfing experience and expect to see you a minimum of two times per each nine holes. This position requires impeccable standards in guest service, care and firmness. You will face a variety of situations and need to be comfortable in facing conflict and confident in resolving situations in the moment using empathy and service excellence.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Golf Guest Services Supervisor, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service

Be present on the course during their shift visiting guests a minimum of two times per nine holes.

Engaging guests in a meaningful way determining the level of satisfaction with their experience and resolving all guest issues in the moment or seeking assistance.

Having guest amenity stocks available in their golf cart to service guest requirements on the course where necessary

Being empowered to turn moments into memories providing guests individualized touches as appropriate

When engaging guests, offer meaningful insight about the course, area, mountains, wildlife, etc.

Ensure golfers are safe and are aware of the on-course facilities.

Manage the daily Pace of Play expectations ensuring a free flowing uninterrupted golf experience for guests and using provided techniques and procedures for handling slower groups.

Be constantly aware of Daily conditions, exceptions, information and changing situations to properly manage movement around the course and update people as required.

Inform the golfers about on-course wildlife, and how to deal with their presence.

Keep the course clean & free of debris. Constantly look for garbage or defected objects (ie; rakes) and own the situation and handle the clean up or replacement immediately.

Proper record keeping and tracking of Golfers and power carts; with the help of the Pro-Shop and starter you should know where every golfer is.

Constant communication with the deck to receive information and advise for departure any situations that occurred on course or upset guests.

Keep the 11th and 18th holes free of range balls.

While roaming the course, it is expected during slower times that you will exceed customer expectations by; repairing pitch marks, tending flags as appropriate, collecting range balls off the course and raking bunkers.

When in a stationary situation, ensure to engage each group providing necessary instructions depending on their pacing and using service excellence skills to ascertain how their experience is going.

Qualifications:
High School diploma

Class 5 Drivers License

Updated drivers abstract

Able to work flexible hours (early morning, evening and occasional split shifts)

Ability to deal with high-pressure situations in a fast-paced environment

Highly motivated and guest driven with a proven ability to solve problems and make timely guest service decisions.

Good knowledge of the game of golf would be an asset, knowing game formats and the etiquette of the game. Knowing when you should drive on or when to stop while people are hitting etc.

Demonstrated exceptional guest service with a passion to continually exceed expectations and anticipate need

Proactive with a demonstrated eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple functions

Proficient in computer skills (tee sheet system)

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

Lifting Required: (50 lbs.): Golf bags, boxes of bottled water, crates of golf balls etc

Repetitive Tasks/Movements: Standing/walking/sitting for extended periods.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
