Reporting to the Director, Business Development, the Business Development Specialist (BDS) is a key sales role within the Sales & Distribution organization, that contributes to Economical’s growth and profitability by actively managing relationships within the existing Broker network, supporting brokerage sales pursuits on ongoing basis, acting as the primary point of contact for brokerage frontline personnel and supporting Business Development Advisor(s), in executing the Regional strategy and achievement of the territory sales targets (e.g., GWP, ELR, etc.).

Your Responsibilities:

  • You’ll deploy Broker services and solutions

  • You’ll provide excellent customer service to support operational efficiency

  • You’ll create strategic growth opportunities across lines of business

  • You’ll drive Broker satisfaction in alignment with the Broker segmentation strategy

  • You’ll develop and implement a Broker service advisory plan for Broker implementation of Economical systems, services and technologies to support achievement of adoption rates for each Broker segment

  • You’ll manage business inquiry and complaint resolution

  • You’ll Implement Broker product, sales, system and technology training (as appropriate)

  • You’ll act as a regional SME on Broker and Economical systems and technologies

  • You’ll work with the Business Development Advisor in managing Broker relationships to drive profitable GWP growth, and collaborates with peers in Business Development, Regional & National Underwriting Operations and Claims in your Region to share market intelligence and deliver a consistent Broker experience which meets or exceeds Broker expectations and needs

Your Skills & Experience:

  • You have a strong working knowledge of Personal Insurance, Commercial Insurance and Farm Insurance lines of business, which are key success factors for operating in Economical’s multi-line sales environment

  • You have at least 2-3 years of Property and Casualty experience, preferably in sales or marketing

  • You have experience within a Personal Insurance environment, either as a broker or an underwriter

  • You have a completed University degree, a 2 year college diploma from a provincially recognized and funded community college or your CIP designation

  • Additional designations are considered an asset (e.g., FCIP, Certified Sales Professional (CSP)

  • In addition you have;

  • A valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the company

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • A strong ability to influence and effectively negotiate with stakeholders
