Job Summary
Inthis position, you will plan, organize and instruct basic level recreationsports such as volleyball, basketball, badminton, floorball hockey, soccer, anddodgeball. You will also be responsible for ensuring a positive and safeenvironment for participants and peers at the Aaniin Community Centre.

JobDuties Facilitates, leads and supervises theprogram Organizes and writeslesson plans to be handed in by week two of the program Develops lesson plansspecific to the abilities of each group. Reviews lesson plans with theRecreation Supervisor/ Program Coordinator prior to class and submits at theend of each session. Prepares and organizesprogram equipment and supplies, maintaining an inventory of supplies, reportingto the Program Coordinator/ Recreation Supervisor any items needing replacement Meets with parents (ifneeded) prior to, or after class time Directly guidesvolunteers and part time Program Assistants as required Advises ProgramCoordinator/ Recreation Supervisor of any customer service issues, complaintsor inquires Ensures safety at ALLtimes, enforcing safety regulations as set out by the City of Markham policiesand procedures Adheres to theprinciples of Healthy Child Development (children ages 6 to 12 years) Other duties as required.

MinimumQualification/ Requirements Successful completion ofa high school diploma Pursuing post-secondarytraining in Sports an asset Early Childhood Education Diploma an asset Minimum 2 years combinedprevious experience working with children and or adults in an instructionalrole Successful completion ofHigh Five Certificate and adherence to the principles of Healthy ChildDevelopment (children ages 6 to 12 years) Must be able to workindependently with minimal supervision Excellent customerservice and communication skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversityof patrons in a courteous and efficient manner Able to deal tactfullywith customers Good interpersonalskills Good organizationalskills Good computer skills (MSOffice) and ability to learn new software Current Standard FirstAid with CPR ‘C’
