Our government client is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a Communications Officer position:

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in maintaining and developing the long-term editorial calendar of social media content, particularly by propose and develop weekly themes for futures use, based on the environment ( World Water Day), government priorities ( ex: Infrastructure ), departmental initiatives and clients projects
  • For long-term future content, provide writing and editing services, or assign writing to students in the team and follow up to ensure delivery and quality
  • Help maintain existing buffer of at least three months of written, content and six months of detailed weekly theme development
  • Ensure execution of all elements of quality control process ( proofreading, link checking, hashtag research, etc.) for all content, by providing the services and/or by overseeing students.
  • Coordinate internal approvals of team-generated content
  • Assist Coordinator in carrying out, in a timely manner, weekly approval processes. Including: daily scheduling of planned content, Wednesday roll-up of content and imagery for the coming week on all of the department’s social media channels; and Friday client approvals of team-generated content for the next roll-up
  • Assist Coordinator in organizing and running three monthly social media planning meetings with clients: at headquarters; with regional clients and with partners in other departments ( by teleconference)
  • Help coordinate various streams of content; accept submission, negotiate requests for late additions to content and ensure compliance with standards
  • Liaise diplomatically within external content providers
  • Work with graphic designer on visual content for social media accounts

Mandatory Qualifications

Education :

  • Secondary school diploma is required
  • Certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a relevant field or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be required
  • Minimum of three ( 3) years of relevant experience is required

Experience :

  • Experience in writing communications products ( e.g. web content, news releases, media lines, statements, social media content)
  • Experience in editing English and French texts in plain language
  • Experience in creating content for social media ( texts and visuals)
  • Experience in coordinating the development of products reliant on multiple providers ( such as regional content providers and graphic artists)
  • Experience in organizing meetings
  • Experience with Government of Canada communications processes and approvals
