JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Project Manager will provide project management support services, in accordance with the best practices of PMI and the National Project Management System, to the client including; manage project activities, review project scope, resolve issues, coordinate project support activities, control client costs and schedules, develop and maintain documentation systems.
- Preparing preliminary time schedules of project implementation stages to establish significant deadlines and major milestones;
- Assisting the in interpreting the Client/User project brief and in understanding department and other government department standards and policies;
- Assisting the in managing of Design Teams and other consultants;
- Reviewing project costs in accordance with predetermined budgets/funding and recommending action required to resolve conflicts;
- Develop a cost plan by accounting for all project costs;
- Prepare options analyses and “what if” scenarios on an as required basis;
- Identify and quantify potential risks and make contingency recommendations in order to minimize negative cost impacts;
- Advise on alternative procurement and construction strategies to create efficiencies wherever possible; and
- Preparing on a monthly basis, project progress reports on project status, project schedules, project forecasts and expenditures and impending corrective actions to be undertaken;
- Assisting with preparation of project briefing notes, progress status reports, project quality reports and weekly/monthly/quarterly reports;
- Preparing and coordinating documentation in response to reports and observation to update management of project progress;
- Responding to internal and external inquiries, performing administrative tasks and participating in decision-making related to the planning an organization of work activities;
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Relevant degree or diploma in Engineering, Architectural Technology or Construction Management
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in civil construction project management
- Ability to possess a Government of Canada Security Clearance
- Relevant professional designations an asset; P.Eng., PMP
- Bilingualism an asset
