The Controller is responsible for managing the Company’s full cycle accounting, financial reportorting, and policies and procedures in a rapidly-growing high tech start-up environment. The position involves supervision of a bookkeeper and senior accountant, along with working with outside consultants.

Responsibilities:
Manage the company’s chart of accounts, accounting records, and intercompany transactions;
Manage the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including variance analysis;
Help maintain compliance with all federal, provincial, and local corporate, payroll and other applicable taxes;
Preparation and review of multi-currency and consolidated financial statements;
Help maintain and implement effective financial controls;
Help manage external audit requirements and work with auditors;
Review of payroll and remittance of relevant payroll taxes in Canada and the United States;
Preparation and maintenance of budgets and forecasts;
Along with the CFO, authorize outgoing cheque and wire payments, and ensuring appropriate coding by the finance team;
Ensure appropriate supporting accounting schedules are prepared;
Cash flow management;
Liase and work with the Company’s subsidiary in India related to financial controls and financial reporting;
Recommending enhancements to existing reporting processes;
Provide training and mentorship to the finance team;
Assist with the implementation of a new ERP system;
Other adhoc items and projects as they arise.

Requirements:
At least 5-10+ years experience in a similar role;
Well versed with US GAAP;
Strong understanding of foreign currency translations relating to multiple subsidiaries;
Experience with departmental and project reporting;
Qualified CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA);
Ability to identify problems and work to resolve them;
Ability to identify and implement process improvements within a fact-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent time management skills;
Flexibility to assist with various tasks in a team-oriented environment;
Highly proficient computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel.
Experience in Manufacturing preferred;
Experience in a small to medium sized fast-growing startup preferred.
