You are a highly motivated and energetic individual with 3-5 years of experience in the implementation and management of large scale Oracle, Unix/Linux based
You are a highly motivated and energetic individual with 3-5 years of experience in the implementation and management of large scale Oracle, Unix/Linux based server infrastructures for 24×7 mission critical enterprise class environments. You are comfortable working and supporting a VSphere 5.x environment. You will be accountable for the implementation, on-going operation and support of complex Unix based server environments and highly available and scalable cluster configurations. You will also have experience in the areas of root cause analysis, resource management, performance management and capacity planning.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to escalations received from any team on server problems
- Participate in various Team and Project meetings
- Be responsible for the creation and maintenance of operational support documentation
- Provide solid expertise to implement and support complex Unix OS based infrastructure
- Maintain service levels as per the established Service Level Agreements
- Proactively look for deficiencies and make suggestions to improve infrastructure and processes in order to improve availability and serviceability of the infrastructure
- Work closely with Database Administrators, Storage Analysts, Application Support, Environment Management and other groups in order to provide fast problem resolution and to improve the client experience
- While assigned to a project, actively participate and engage to deliver on time and within budget
- Proactively look for opportunities and make suggestions to improve system availability and save cost
- Involve and participate in resource management and the development of capacity plans based on historical trends and business drivers
- Be aware of new directions in the areas of operating systems, computer systems
- Determine level of availability for business requirements when implementing new designs
- Identify and document availability shortfalls and develop corrective action plans
Qualifications
Required Knowledge:
- Solid expertise in managing large scale enterprise server infrastructure using Unix based operating systems in a 24×7 mission critical production environments
- Experience with enterprise Unix based server platforms such as REDHAT LINUX, SUN/Solaris and/or IBM/AIX
- Experience with multipath I/O and clustering technologies
- Understanding of the functionality provided by the Unix kernel and experienced with kernel tuning
- Experienced in the troubleshooting of problems involving knowledge of server, networking, storage and database technology
- Experienced in performance monitoring and performance tuning of large Unix based computer systems; capable of identifying performance bottlenecks and proposing solutions to them
- Experienced with managing server infrastructure used by large DBMS instances (Oracle)
- Experience with backup-and-recovery methodologies
- Ability to perform end-to-end (OS, network layer, I/O, SAN, application) performance monitoring and tuning
- Knowledge of networking concepts such as the TCP/IP protocols, switching, routing, firewalls, load-balancing, proxy
- Knowledge of system(s) backup tools (i.e. Veritas NetBackup)
- Full system development and life cycle management experience

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Work well as part of a team supporting IT Infrastructure for a large organization Administration of Unix based Enterprise Server Platforms – RH LINUX, Sun/Solaris, IBM/AIX
- Administration of LINUX based Systems in a VMware environment
- Experience with large scale Linux implementations in both physical and virtual environments
- End-to-end advanced system troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- End-to-end performance monitoring and tuning
- Experience with multipath I/O and clustering technologies
- Proficient in shell scripting – sh, ksh, perl
- Resource Management and capacity planning
- Participate in an on-call pager rotation providing 24X7 escalation support
- Experience with enterprise disk management systems from EMC, IBM, HDS is an asset
Required Professional Designation/Certification:
- Post-secondary diploma/certification is required
- University Degree is an asset
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years of equivalent experience
