As a Senior Technology Architect on the OSS Architecture & Delivery team in the Chief Technology Office, you will be assisting in leading the solutions architecture of New Technology Introduction, World Class Assurance and/or Service Performance.
Responsibilities:

  • Create and drive modern solution architecture within the organization
  • Identify and investigate opportunities to improve and complement current architectures
  • Partner with a wide variety of teams to build collaborative solutions
  • Define solutions and services roadmaps
  • Obtain approvals from architecture review boards and other leadership teams
  • Specify and oversee proof of concepts and OSS lab trials for solutions involving new technologies, ensuring that objectives are met
  • Evaluate and recommend vendor products and proposals
  • Perform impact analysis on incoming service and support requests
  • Develop Solution Blueprints and Application Architecture Specifications for product and custom build related implementation
  • Collaborate with business analysts and network and enterprise architects to ensure consistent, achievable solutions that are aligned to strategic imperatives
  • Provide leadership to design teams
  • Develop naming standards for all product related entities in custom or packaged product catalogue
  • Specify reusable technical architecture components to reduce development and support costs
  • Review detailed design specifications, test plans, and user documentation for functional and technical completeness and accuracy
  • Perform impact analysis on incoming service and support requests
  • Perform data design and management activities for development work

Qualifications
Required Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of the telecommunication industry and its products and services is required
  • Strong understanding of network operations in the wireless and/or wireline services environment
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies and protocols (CDMA/EVDO, UMTS/HSPA, LTE, etc.)
  • Overall understanding of radio access, circuit and packet core networks
  • Overall understanding of internetworking technologies and multiple network protocols (xDSL, Ethernet, IP, VPN, MPLS, SONET, DWDM)
  • Familiarity with industry standards (3GPP, IEEE, ITU, IETF, TMF, MEF)
  • Knowledge of TMF standards (Frameworx, eTOM, SID, TAM, MTOSI, OSS/j) is an asset
  • Knowledge of IPTV and VoIP technologies would be an asset
  • Applied knowledge of Solaris, IBM AIX, and Linux
  • Applied knowledge of databases, BI and reporting tools (e.g. Oracle, Cognos) would be an asset
  • Applied knowledge of SNMP or Tivoli suite of assurance tools
  • Enterprise integration architecture standards and patterns
  • Network operations in the wireless and/or wireline services environment
  • Deep knowledge of software development life cycle, methodologies and supporting processes
  • Hadoop or querying and mining data with Relational and non-Relational data source
  • Proven ability to work effectively across diverse groups and with senior stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fast adaptation to new technologies and situations

  • Demonstrable ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and situations

Required Professional Designation/Certification:

  • Bachelors/Masters in Engineering, Computing Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
  • Cisco Certification is desired, but not mandatory
  • P.Eng is desired, but not mandatory
  • PMP would be an asset

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years as a technology architect in a large/complex organization or solutions provider
  • Experience in a telecommunications industry and/or Big Data technologies is preferred
