The position is responsible for developing specific aspects of the safety management system, and implementing and monitoring the system in their assigned geographic area in order to help team members comply with legal requirements, prevent occupational accidents and injuries and build a future friendly safety culture.

Responsibilities:
Provide technical and tactical guidance and support to workplace partners, including managers, health & safety committees, building evacuation teams and other team members, to ensure effective identification, evaluation and control of workplace safety hazards.

Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of specific aspects of the safety management system and related programs, including safety communications and training courses.

Work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to support safety-related projects and initiatives.

Assist in building a future friendly safety culture through open dialogue and communication with team members.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge:
Technical/professional knowledge and skills related to accident prevention (intermediate)

Strong understanding of occupational health & safety acts and regulations (immediate)

Required Skills & Abilities:
Business and financial acumen (intermediate)

Leadership skills – influence, collaboration and negotiation (intermediate)

Analytical and critical thinking skills (intermediate)

Project management (intermediate)

Verbal and written communication skills (intermediate)

Required Professional Designation/Certification:
University degree (or more than 5-10 years of safety experience) with preferably one safety or safety-related professional certification.

Required Experience:
Proven leadership experience in a managerial role and preferably a minimum of 3 year experience in the communications industry
