Position Summary

Provides levels 1 & 2 support to Teekay users, installs and maintains PC software, printers, and peripherals. Answers PC and software questions, and serves as liaison with the IT department. Duties include: investigating and resolving desktop hardware and software issues and requests, creating problem tickets or service requests, answering support telephone calls, installing, configuring and testing hardware and software, and documenting procedures and user guides.
Major Responsibilities

  • Responds to system, communications and client problems via the Helpdesk by performing duties such as investigating problems and taking corrective action which may include using site or vendor provided utilities.
  • Installs, configures, modifies and tests computer hardware such as laptops, desktops, printers and other peripheral equipment such as scanners, usb devices, smart phones and blackberry; installs and test software according to established procedures.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of computer hardware systems and software by performing duties such as but not limited to: cleaning equipment, updating drivers, scanning machine.
  • Performs operating and administration functions such as user account management and monitoring disk usage and systems performance on a variety of operating systems.
  • Assists Network and Systems personnel in upgrading and testing of desktop operating systems including application software upgrades by performing duties such as testing images, installing software and documenting results.
  • Assists with IT projects by performing duties such as participating in project teams.
  • Inputs all problems and resolutions of fixed problems into Helpdesk tool (Magic).

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Proficient in troubleshooting operating systems such as; Windows XP and Windows 7
  • Proficient in troubleshooting application software such as; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Patience with frustrated users, maintaining professionalism under difficult situations
  • Excellent oral communications and strong organizational skills
  • Detail oriented, able to approach problems logically and able to prioritize responsibilities
  • Working knowledge of Teekay’s standard desktop load, WAN and LAN protocols
  • Team Approach
  • Well organized and able to prioritize and complete tasks without guidance or prompting.
  • Committed to continuous study and learning to maintain a high degree of currency in technology ie: desktop applications and windows operating systems
