One of our clients, a major Canadian bank, is looking for an Event Manager

Length: 12 month contract with possible extension

Location: Downtown Toronto, Ontario (Financial District)

WORK HOURS: 37.5 hrs per week

INTERVIEW DETAILS: 2 Steps, 1-on-1, then a panel interview

INTERVIEW AVAILABILITY: Early in the week of January 30th

GROUP: Personal & Commercial Banking

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Under the direction of the Senior Manager & Team Lead, Event-Based Marketing, this job is accountable for providing day-to-day operational and coordination support for both internal and external events across all Lines of Business for the bank. These events are highly visible and involve clients as well as senior-level executives. The role involves registration management, onsite execution, sourcing internal and external vendors/suppliers, and venue research and negotiations or contracting. The successful candidate must represent the organization with professionalism, courtesy, and integrity.

ABOUT THE CULTURE:

There is a very open-concept, casual, and team-oriented environment. There is some work-alone or travel required. The ability to work in groups and independently is required. There may be opportunities to go to the US (Valid Passport is required ).

WHAT MY CLIENT OFFERS:

You will have exposure to Corporate Event Planning and will be required to communicate on all levels of the bank. It’s a 12 month contract, which is perfect for someone who is looking to expand their experience within the meetings/event planning industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Plan and coordinate various events from small meetings to large conferences (500+ attendees)
  • Manage and oversee event budgets
  • Work directly with clients to advise on planning logistics, etc.
  • Responsible onsite for all event decisions (logistically)
  • Working with external vendors/suppliers
  • Negotiating contracts and sourcing venues

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Candidate must be CMP (Certified Meeting Planner) certified
  • At least 3 recent years’ experience organizing events for not-for-profit organizations and/or financial institutions
  • Demonstrated ability in leading the planning of corporate events
  • Experience planning and executing large on-site events
  • Continuing professional development or education in Event Planning
  • Flexibility on schedule and ability to travel as required

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:

  • Organized and attention to detail
  • A proven multi-tasker
  • Must be able take a project from beginning and see it all the way through
  • Professional, polished, and courteous
  • Meeting Professionals International (MPI) membership is a definite asset
  • Relevant professional experience in finance or banking industries is a definite asset
