The Small Business Advisor provides Small Business owners with exceptional service and sound financial advice to meet their diverse credit, deposit, cash management and payment processing needs. The role contributes to the overall branch success by achieving sales through business development, retention and referrals. The role is responsible for retaining and expanding existing client relationships within the community and is required to network with local business leaders to establish quality centers of influence that will refer business. The Small Business Advisor reports directly to the Branch Manager with an indirect reporting relationship with an Area Manager from the Business Bank. The Area Manager provides the Small Business Advisor guidance and coaching specific to Small Business banking priorities, sales activity management and credit deal support.

Job Requirements
Customer Experience

  • Proactively demonstrate lobby leadership in the customer lounge, help & advice area and in self serve areas of the branch with the goal to deliver legendary customer experiences and create a positive “First Impression’” by greeting and engaging them in a range of sales, service and informational conversations
    • Provide sound advice at every customer interaction, contributing to a positive customer experience
      • Ensure customer problems are handled appropriately, escalating issues when necessary
        • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the overall customer experience
          • Possess expert knowledge of TD Canada Trust Business Banking products and services, and sound knowledge of products offered by other internal bank partners
            • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the local market, competitive offers, and economic trends
              • Work closely with the Area Manager to ensure all Business Banking customers are serviced in the channel best suited to meet their requirements
                • Work closely with the Small Business Credit Centre, Credit Services and SBB product groups to ensure satisfactory customer response times for new credit applications
                  • Ensure customer areas are professional and inviting in appearance

                              • Develop and deepen the banking relationships of new and existing Small Business Banking customers and provide them with appropriate products and services for their small business needs
                                • Identify and refer customers to internal Bank partners as appropriate, including all personal financial needs
                                  • Contribute toward the achievement of Small Business Banking sales and business development objectives by meeting or exceeding individual sales goals to contribute to the achievement of the overall branch business objectives
                                    • Develop and maintain relationships with Commercial Banking, Agriculture Account managers and Wealth Partners to ensure a coordinated market approach to Business Banking Services within the District
                                      • Maintain excellent knowledge and understanding of small business fundamentals and TD Canada Trust products and services; act as an advisor and branch resource on Business Banking solutions that match customers needs
                                        • Plan and execute business development activities
                                          • Effective use of Small Business Banking (SBB) pipeline performance tool
                                            • Proactively promote TD Canada Trust’s image within the business community through participation and leadership in community business groups, initiatives, fundraisers, etc.

                                                • Be knowledgeable of and comply with Bank and industry codes of conduct and with securities laws and regulations
                                                  • Understand and apply bank/branch operating policies and procedures
                                                    • Ensure necessary due diligence is taken to support the accuracy of all customer transactions

                                                        It is understood that you will have flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required on a rotational basis as part of the branch team.
