Job Description
At the TD Lab, you will be given a unique opportunity to explore emerging technologies and develop innovative solutions. As a member of the team, you will work in the Communitech Hub alongside other industry leaders including Google, Christie Digital, Desire2Learn and a host of start-up ventures. Every day in the lab will present a new challenge. You will work with fellow coop students to brainstorm new ideas and develop solutions into functional prototypes. Technical and design mentors provide learning workshops and work with you through the design and development process. You will work on several projects throughout the term and be exposed to the latest in web, mobile, and emerging technologies. The lab is an open and highly collaborative environment. You can code from the comfort of a couch and drink enough free coffee to sink a ship. There are many opportunities to take on challenging technical tasks and project leadership roles. This is a fast paced and agile environment that will provide you with a truly unique experience. Job Requirements
•Currently enrolled and/or has experience in Design (interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), HCI, or a related field.
•Proficient in interaction design and on various platforms (web, mobile web, mobile, tablet) with conceptual understanding of web technologies
•Visual design experience, particularly in layout and information design
•Proficient in creating user flows, site maps, prototyping all or part of a solution, and detailed wireframes that include thorough specifications
•Well versed in user-centered design and will be an advocate for the user throughout the project lifecycle
•You thrive in a collaborative team environment and understand that the best user experiences come from collaborative design
•Meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organization, logic, and analytical skills
•Know when it’s appropriate to follow design patterns and when it’s good to stretch a pattern or break the convention
•Ability to innovate and problem solve
•Ability to ask good questions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
•Ability to communicate ideas to a diverse audience and constructively integrate feedback
•Ability to translate conceptual/POC ideas into compelling customer experiences
•Curious about emerging technologies and the implications they have for the customer experience
•Knowledge of HTML/CSS not required but recommended
