Our Burnaby area client is a leader in the support and provision of healthcare services to the British Columbia public.

The client is seeking an Intermediate IT Infrastructure Specialist on a contract basis to support Project Services – a department responsible for delivering a wide range of IT infrastructure projects for the Health Authorities of British Columbia.

Anticipated services include:

  • Active Directory account creation
  • Active Directory group modification
  • DNS record management
  • General troubleshooting in regard to project related Active Directory and DNS issues
  • Service Principal Name (SPN) management
  • Review requirements and architecture / design documentation to verify and document the required new firewall rules / firewall changes
  • Review requirements and architecture / design documentation to verify that servers are being provisioned in the correct network zones
  • Implement / change firewall rules
  • Work with customers / vendors to troubleshoot project related firewall issues
  • Update project / operational documentation and progress production change requests as required for firewall and zoning related activities

In addition to the requirements noted below, the successful candidate will possess the following:

  • In-depth Windows server build and support experience
  • Strong understanding of logical network and firewalling principals
  • Good understanding of name resolution protocols
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-directed, highly motivated, and results-oriented
  • Good communication, customer interaction, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and multi-task
  • Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office
  • MCSE certification is preferred

Must Haves
A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a Computer Science program, plus related certifications, and at least four (4) years of recent experience implementing / supporting firewall rules, active directory, and DNS in a large, complex corporate environment with multiple data centres.
