TakingITGlobal is seeking a Indigenous Education Coordinator to be based in Saskatoon with the ability to travel. This full-time opportunity is perfect for someone who is an effective communicator, creative problem-solver, well organized, experienced with facilitation and passionate about Indigenous education.

Connected North fosters student engagement and enhanced education outcomes in remote Indigenous communities. This leading edge program delivers immersive and interactive education services, through Cisco’s high definition, two-way TelePresence video technology. The program is made possible through a strong ecosystem of supporters with program delivery managed by TakingITGlobal. The goal is to provide students and teachers with access to content that is engaging and innovative, with the hope of increasing feelings of empowerment in school and in life. Roles and Responsibilities

Coordination:
- Day-to-day program delivery for 5 Connected North schools, targeting the delivery of at least 1 session per week per school based on classroom needs

- Support onboarding and relationship building with new schools and communities being added to the program
- Understand needs and interests of teachers and students while helping to provide linkages between guest experts and curriculum objectives
- Identify and invite relevant guest speakers drawing on the extensive network of TakingITGlobal, Cisco, the Centre for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, and outreach to new individuals/organizations
- Hosting regular dynamic and interactive sessions to encourage active participation and engagement among students

Research and Writing
- Prepare regular status updates to be shared with program team and partners on activities
- Develop seasonal newsletters to share with teachers, students and partners
- Contribute to reporting to reflect overall activity, learning outcomes, insights and recommendations for the future
- Preparing learning activities and lesson plans in alignment with curriculum objectives and in response to interests identified by participating educators and students

Outreach and Partnerships:
- Support Indigenous youth engagement and the involvement of Northern schools within other relevant TIG programs including Rising Youth, Create to Learn, Global Encounters, Commit2Act, and TIGed
- Relationship building with potential content providers and Indigenous role models to deliver sessions

Qualifications
- Leadership skills, facilitation experience
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Cross-Cultural sensitivity
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve conflict
- Comfortable learning new technologies and troubleshooting when things do not go according to plan

- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Resilient approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience working and/or volunteering in the non-profit sector
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or organizations
- Interest in social change, youth development and the mission and vision of TakingITGlobal
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Awareness of the history of colonization in Canada and the impacts on Indigenous communities
- Experience as an educator or youth worker with teaching or youth engagement facilitation
- Given the nature of the position, priority will be given to applicants who self-identify as First Nations, Metis or Inuit
