Role:

We are currently seeking the services of OWNER/OPERATORS to be based in Halifax area for customer deliveries. If you have a clean drivers abstract, class 1 license, own a reliable and clean late model tandem axle tractor, willing to work nights, are physically fit, and enjoy providing “Flawless Customer Service” then we want to hear from you! Sysco’s contracted Independent Cartage Agents (ICA’s) enjoy free weekends and performance awards.

As an Owner Operator, you would be responsible for:

• Deliver fresh and frozen products to customer orders as per established routes and schedules.
• Maintain a daily trip log & following road safety rules.
• Provide professional customer service.
• Understanding, upholding and complying with Sysco’s policies, paperwork, and procedures, e.g. Health and Safety, returns, food safety.

Driver & Truck Requirements:

• Must have a valid class of driver’s license for the size of vehicle you wish to drive for Sysco.
• Must have a minimum of 1 year experience driving tractor trailer or straight truck.
• Must have a recent (within 3 months) clean criminal record check.
• Must have a 5 year driver’s abstract.
• Must have Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) coverage in accordance with the owner and number of personnel that will be working for your business.
• Must have a business license.
• Must have a GST number.
• Must have steel toe boots.
• Must be able to work in a fast passed environment and be able to conduct repetitive lifting up to 40 kg
• Must be organized, punctual, reliable, self-motivated and hard- working.
• You must own or lease tandem axle power unit or straight truck, no later than 5 years old and it must be white in color.
• Tandem axle day cabs are most suitable for this type of work.
• Must have a recent CVI.
• Must have vehicle registration for country or city according to where the Independent Contractor has requested to operate.

Insurance

• Must have $100,000 non-owner insurance coverage on the trailer.
• Must have $2,000,000 liability insurance.
• Must have of $25,000 cargo insurance.
