As a business advisor and an integral part of the leadership team of this dynamic and growing company, the Controller will be responsible for leading the accounting/reporting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. You will be responsible for people development, process change, internal and external financial reporting and providing advice, direction and financial expertise to senior management
Reports to: CFO Western Division
The successful candidate will :
Work closely with the General Manager to define financial objectives and strategies for the company and plan, manage and carry out a course of action necessary to support these initiatives.
Provide reliable and timely financial reporting to management and corporate office. Accurate and timely processing of financial reporting (weekly / monthly / quarterly / annual)
Prepare journal entries / monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
Prepare year end tax information for external auditors
Ensure appropriate internal controls are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and Sysco Financial Accounting Methods and working effectively
Provide leadership, guidance, coaching and succession planning to team members.
Analyze financial information to assist management in increasing profitability; make recommendations towards sound business decisions and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assist CFO with forecasting results.
Integral part of annual profit plan process.
Contribute to cross-functional projects that enhance company profitability.
Work with corporate internal audit group, external auditors, tax and legal advisors.
Assist with fixed asset ledger
Federal / provincial reporting as required
All other duties as assigned.
Education required: completion of professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA)
Other Education/Certification/Training preferred: Microsoft Office / SAP knowledge
Work Experience Requirements:
5+ years’ work experience, knowledge of food industry
8 years accounting
Manufacturing experience an asset
Equipment: Computer, general office equipment
Software: Microsoft Office Suite with very strong excel skills
Other: preferred SAP / Distributec
