Under the supervision of the Human
Resources (HR) manager, the job holder will advise, and support the station
managers and employees concerning health and safety at their workplace. He/she
acts as a business partner in all questions regarding legislation, prevention,
management of injuries at work; in order to ensure a positive, productive as
well as a safe work environment.
He/she acts as a change agent and
has to support business goals. He/she offers orientation and support to the
management teams in key areas related to health and safety at work. The job
holder will work in collaboration with other members of the HR. He/she must
also ensure the proper application of norms, standards, politics and procedures
of the safety and health at work as well as recommending actions to be
implemented to contribute to goals achievement.
Responsibilities
Advisor
role:
Acts as an advisor-expert among the station employees and managers ensuring a reliable support and providing an efficient and proactive feedback;
Is the contact person when it comes to better practices in the industry;
Participates actively at the union meetings;
Participates at solving grievances;
Health
and safety prevention
Collaborates to reinforce the health and safety culture in the entire station;
Develops, issues and applies rules, procedures and politics about health and safety including ergonomics in collaboration with the HR team;
Acts as an efficient leader among employees and managers in order to reach the health and safety goals;
Leads different health and safety committees and ensures follow ups;
Analyses, elaborates and implements the health and prevention plan and brings necessary modifications in collaboration with the HR team;
Trains the managers and employees about all relevant topics related to health, safety at work;
Undertakes visits and effective workplace inspections;
Measures the efficiency of the actions undertaken using performance indicator and generates statistics;
Participates at the elaboration of programs concerning health and safety and HR tools. He/she performs all related tasks.
Injuries
management on the workplace:
Ensures the efficient management of CSST files related to work injuries according to the recommendations and represents the employer at court hearing;
Carries out diligently investigations about injuries and risks analyses;
Undertakes the necessary actions to answer requirements of the prevention mutual;
Manages rapidly the injuries at work and claims files in partnership with the external firm;
Communicates with the CSST and/or the provider in charge of managing the claims if required;
Keeps relevant information up to date in the database in order to ensure the efficient follow up on injuries
Coordinates the returns to work (modified work, temporary affectation, rehabilitation) by providing liaison between the managers and employees;
Follows up on corrective actions and measures of the health and safety audits, inspections, investigations report and recommends necessary actions to correct situations that are not in conformity and/or dangerous;
Publishes recommendations about lost time claims, including scheduled restrictions, length instructions for injuries and recommendations about managing the return to work;
