Our client is seeking a Stakeholder Affairs Advisor to join their Calgary team. This position is contract maternity leave starting in June. Summary Reporting to the Lead of Stakeholder Affairs, the Stakeholder Affairs Advisor is responsible for assisting the Stakeholder Affairs Team to meet community engagement objectives, coordinate and track community commitments while supporting the overall consultation, administrative and business development initiatives. Responsibilities Develop and foster positive working relationships with key stakeholders and communities in support of the companies projects Coordinate the company’s participation in community events Monitor and manage community and political issues and keep the Stakeholder Affairs Team informed of potential or emerging issues and opportunities Assist in the coordination of the Impact Benefit and community based agreements, tracking commitments internally and assisting in the implementation externally Recommend community develop opportunities consistent with Community Development Guidelines Assist the Regulatory and Stakeholder Affairs Team with the administration of aboriginal regulatory consultation and tracking of consultation efforts Aid in the implementation of local and aboriginal vendor management and business contracting strategies Support the implementation of Aboriginal awareness training programs as required Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of direct Oil Sands specific aboriginal relations, or community relations experience, related experience in inter-cultural and indigenous contexts also considered University or college degree in social sciences, humanities or related field Knowledge of and experience in TEK, community development, northern governance, regulatory consultation (aboriginal or stakeholder) Excellent communication, public speaking, negotiation and conflict resolution skills Excellent organizational, administrative, writing, and reporting skills Sensitivity to Oil Sands specific cultural/community processes, approaches and experiences asset Experience in the energy industry is also considered an asset Please contact Sophie Beswick at [email protected] or 587-349-6734
