STUDENT EMPLOYMENT

The Community Service Component of the Student Work and Service Program (SWASP) is a program that enables students to work in their home community during the summer, develop transferable skills, explore career interests and help nonprofits carry out their programs. In return, they receive a $1,400 tuition voucher upon completion of a 280-hour placement (8 weeks), plus a weekly stipend of $175. This program operates with financial support from the Government of Canada, Service Canada. Voucher payments to post secondary institutions are administered by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
