Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the Intermediate Process Engineer will be responsible for providing process engineering support to achieve a safe, reliable, and efficient operation of Water Treatment and Steam Production Plants. The candidate must have operating and/or design knowledge and technical expertise in boiler feed water treatment, and steam production systems.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Identify, investigate and resolve plant operational and performance issues within the assigned area
Provide process engineering support to plant contact engineers and senior engineers in their ongoing evaluations, as well troubleshooting plant performance issues
Develop process engineering studies to address existing plant bottlenecks or to improve performance
Participate in design reviews, risk reviews and HAZOP
Carryout process engineering calculations/evaluations on pumps, heat exchangers, control valves and other process equipment
Periodic monitoring of process parameters and updating spreadsheet and trends
Carryout field measurements such as temperature and pressure surveys and deriving conclusions
Support the development of monthly unit performance reports
Develop process simulation and hydraulic models using software
Field verifications of process documents such as P&ID and datasheets
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, with strong process engineering knowledge
Registered (or eligible) as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Minimum four years’ work experience in water treatment and power plant facilities, or upgrading /refining/petrochemical/design & detailed Engineering (EPC) area

Skills and Knowledge:
Technical expertise in the design, operation and maintenance of water treatment and steam production systems
Ability to achieve desired results by self and leading a team
Must possess the ability, knowledge, skills and experience to work effectively with others throughout the organization
Ability to apply structured decision analysis and problem solving skills for process plant troubleshooting, performance optimization and continuous improvement
Ability to collect information, listen and speak effectively and present information clearly and concisely
Ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel through effective engineering judgment and leadership of support engineering resources
Hands on experience in process simulation software is an asset
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Monday to Friday – 40 hour work week
Relocation to Fort McMurray is mandatory for this position
