Role Summary:
The Compliance Administrator will report to the Director and Company Security Officer. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Corporate Compliance team in Toronto, providing day to day compliance and administrative support. This role requires an individual who can manage conflicting demands, has superior organizational skills and demonstrates a high ethical regard. This position will support members of Corporate Compliance and specific functions within the Canadian Operations through the administration of a security compliance program.

As a member of the Corporate Compliance team, you will provide guidance to the Canadian Business in meeting the contractual requirements for some of Sun Life’s largest Group Benefits contracts.

Corporate Compliance is accountable to the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) to ensure Sun Life maintains compliance with the Industrial Security Manual (ISM).

You are responsible for day-to-day operations of the Government Plans Security Compliance program.

This will include: providing support and assistance for the Government Security Screening process, completing documentation that will be submitted to the CISD, providing updates to team leaders and guidance on the processing of Government Security Clearances to the business. Through these tasks you will ensure Sun Life maintains compliance with the ISM.

To be successful in this role you must have good written and communication skills, as you will be working with internal clients and a Federal Government agency. You will coordinate work across the Sun Life sites, requiring you to manage changing priorities from different sources. Creating and fostering internal partners is critical to your success.

This requires you to be highly organized and not lose track of details. This process is critical to many teams in the Canadian Operations; therefore, you must be consistent and timely with the processing of repetitive tasks.

Main Accountabilities:
Assist in all aspect of the security screening program administration process

Build relationships with key business partners

Provide guidance to Alternate Company Security Officers (ACSOs) on security screening requirements

Assist the Director in developing compliance solutions that enable to business

Maintains and updates compliance related databases and tools

Supports the Compliance reporting process including gathering information and report preparation

Provides administrative support in the form of meeting planning, correspondence and document management, travel arrangements, calendar management

Completes assigned tasks or steps in compliance projects, reviews, etc.

Responds to internal and external inquiries, redirecting the inquiry as required

Other duties as required

0 to 3 year experience in compliance or security, or related field

High School/College education

Ability to easily adapt to a changing environment, procedures and work processes and keep current on latest changes

Proficient at managing and understanding the impacts of competing deadlines and priorities

Ability to quickly learn and be proficient in understanding the overall departmental functions, goals and visions

Ability to take initiative and work independently

Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills

Detail oriented

Strong Word, Excel, power point skills, Lotus Notes

Very strong written and verbal communication skills

Willingness to grow within Compliance

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal comfortably with all levels of the organization

Strong ability to present information in a logical manner internally and externally

Some travel maybe required – within Canada only
