Business Program Management Office & Solutions team handles portfolio, program and project management; business analysis; process design; technology and production support work in the Client Solutions business unit. The Client Solutions business focuses on making it easier for existing and new clients to access a variety of life, health and wealth products. Client Solutions is aligned closely with all other SLF Canada business units and play a significant role in accelerating the growth of Group Retirement Services, Individual Insurance and Investments, and Group Benefits. Client Solutions is focused on providing valued service to client and creating the foundation for long-term client relationships.

Job Description:
The Business Consultant provides support and analysis to various functions through project oriented work. Business Consultants participate in reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business needs for internal teams as well as external clients. They partner with IT to ensure technical business needs are understood and guide the development of risk assessments and testing strategies. They also recognize opportunities for process improvement, create new processes and documentation, publish project documentation, and assist in training.

The Business Consultant analyzes issues to determine: magnitude (one time occurrence to systemic), process gaps, user knowledge gaps, user errors, and/or technological gaps

Main Accountabilities:
Identify and assist in the re-engineering, improvement or replacement of business processes and associated technology

Gather, document, examine and manage business Facilitate the communication between the business and technology areas

Perform risk assessments and business requirements validation

Ensure business requirements are clear, understandable, audience appropriate and accurate to meet business needs

Partner with the technical staff to interpret business needs, assist in solution design, and deliver the expected result

Be proactive by researching/analyzing issues, defining opportunities for process improvements and making recommendations

Take ownership of support/project issues and engage the appropriate resources to reach solution

Ensuring project deliverables are implemented within time, budget and quality parameters; strong prioritization of competing tasks.

Lead or assist in preparation of test strategies, test plans, test situations and test cases

Lead some projects, and mentor other business consultants in business process and best practices.

May also be involved in Project Management such as managing the delivery of projects through initiation, planning, analysis, design, construction, deployment, and post-project review

Consulting: Gather information by applying approaches or styles applicable to the situation

Problem management: work to prevent problems or decrease impact of problems when possible

Training: prepare and clearly present information, transfer knowledge clearly and effectively

Project Management: drive project deliverables, plan activities and ensures successful project implementation

Business acceptance testing: applies quality/testing concepts and techniques

Siebel CRM service and/or sales experience; and other call centre knowledge

Financial services / product experience and knowledge

Understanding of Group Benefits; Individual Insurance and Investments; Group Retirement Services businesses

Process improvement experience

Data analytics skill – collect and mine data

Participation in best practice Industry organization (IIBA)
