Role Summary:
The Selling Account Executive is responsible for business development, client retention and the profitable management of a portfolio of group clients in the Waterloo sales office. Sales and promotional activity take place through advisors and consultants based in the Southern Alberta Region. There are annual new business, retention, execution and profitability targets for this role.

Main Accountabilities:
Main Sun Life contact for clients, responsible for the overall client relationship with Sun Life

Responsible for the growth and profitability of an assigned block of business

Manage the relationship with assigned advisors and develop untapped sources

Ensure client/advisor needs are met through the delivery of value-added products and services

Capabilities:
Extensive experience (5 to 8 years) in group insurance (sales, underwriting or consulting)

Minimum of 3 years proven sales success in the group market

Experience working with clients and executives within the client organization as well as with plan advisors

Knowledge of group benefit plan design including flexible benefit plans, underwriting and financial management, technology and Internet applications, benefit and plan taxation, communications and administration procedures, claims practices, government legislation and current developments in the benefits field

Integrity, customer focus, strong leadership and the ability to work successfully in a team environment

Strong negotiation and analytical skills

Interpersonal savvy

Self-starter and results oriented

Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills

Adept at project management and handling of multiple priorities

Notes/Unique Requirements:
Regular travel in the Southern Alberta Region is required with occasional overnight travel
