At Staples Promotional Products (SPP) we run promotional merchandise programs (e-stores and marketing executions) for some of the world’s best known brands. This position is responsible for supporting the Program Managers and Art Directors in the development and execution of all program/client collateral and website initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design SPP customer e-stores based on web best practices and functionality of the SPP e-store structure.
  • Understand and execute production, maintenance, and email marketing while using current web standards and practices for each browser.
  • Support Art Directors with the conceptualization, design and production of customer print catalogues, marketing materials and e-communications.
  • Onsite logistical coordination to assist the Program Manager and Art Directors while tracking down open questions, clarifying and fine-tuning routing questions/solutions.
  • Database population—coordinate with the Art Director to ensure accuracy of e-store structure information and live websites.
  • Stand-in for Art Director at meetings where an Art Director is not available.
  • MediaBank image management — finding opportunities to repurpose and save cost.
  • Prepping images for Art Directors to use in eStore structure.
  • Coordinate with Marketing Managers and Production Manager to ensure projects move smoothly through the department and that deadlines are met and processes adhered to, especially as related to quality assurance.
  • Work as a team with Art Directors and Marketing Managers to determine the customer’s theme, message, position and marketing strategy and provide technical and creative input. Organize materials and communicate any pertinent information necessary to all involved in the project.
  • Be organized and responsible for the accuracy of all design-related elements for web and print, including layouts, samples, supplemental artwork, proofing, editing, etc.
  • Accurately track multiple projects.
  • Practice and comply with Creative team goals, objectives and expectations as communicated.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE / SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong working knowledge with the Adobe Creative Suite – Dreamweaver, InDesign, and Photoshop are an absolute must.
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS and website production.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency in database management/population.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong project and time management skills are critical.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at a time.
  • PC and Mac experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to take concept files and turn them into web (or print ready layouts), with understanding of programming language, file and page sizes and web structure.
  • Strong organizational skills, with thorough attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple employees, budgets, projects and deadlines.
  • Strong pre-press knowledge. Familiar with various printing and design options to keep printing costs to a minimum.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong design, layout and aesthetic skills.
  • Strong project and time management skills are critical.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, positively and concisely.
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor or as an integral part of a team.
  • Driven self-starter who takes initiative, proactively makes recommendations and takes accountability and ownership of all relevant projects.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
• 1-3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience in web design.
• Experience with editorial manipulation.
Education:
• University or college degree.
