Job Description Who is this training program for?

This is an exciting and comprehensive 6 month program that culminates in the reward of an opportunity to apply for a Meat cutter position to those who successfully complete the full requirements.

What is it all about?

We continue in an exciting time within the Sobeys banner. This strategic move forward marks a significant investment for our company. As we continue to grow and deliver on our “fresh” image , we are now making another significant investment – developing more employees within our store network. The Meat Cutter in Training Program is a comprehensive program designed to take retail savvy individuals, and prepare them for a role as a Meat Cutter within our Sobeys stores. The program will run for 6 months and include a mix of in-class and in-store learning and work assignments. To help ensure your successful development, you will leave your current role / location and be immersed into a full time role as a trainee. Your training will reside primarily within the district to which you are selected, with further travel required for in-class sessions, therefore mobility is a must.

You will receive one on one training, as well as classroom sessions delivered by individuals from within our business who are highly regarded for their subject matter knowledge and experience. You will have first-hand experience in-store to practice what you have learned. We will provide you with challenging written assignments also designed to re-enforce the learning, and offer regular feedback along the way.

You are a lifelong learner who is committed to improving every single day. You have the flexibility and willingness to travel within Ontario for training as required. You are experienced with and grounded in retail operations and you aspire to evolve to the position of Meat Cutter. You are able to work varied shifts, including evenings/weekends and peak holiday seasons. You are open to multiple locations and you are willing and able to start the training program by Monday, May 4, 2015. Preference will be given to those candidates who offer greater flexibility to relocate. You have retail experience, proven ability to deliver results and a track record of being highly motivated.
