We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Manager, Front Office Stores Maintenance & Support to join the National Information Technology department, based out of our offices in Stellarton, Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Director IT Stores Applications Maintenance & Support, in this role you will be responsible for the management and support of our National Store Systems Application Suite with regards to production environment and operational integrity.

Some of the key things you’ll be responsible for in this role will include:

Create a coaching and development culture for all employees

Manage direct reports including: selection, orientation, training and development, performance management, succession planning and compensation

Counsel and coach team members including completing performance reviews and assisting team members with training and developmental goals

Provide leadership to the Support Team to develop and meet team goals

Prioritize, document, analyze, track, and resolve problems as they relate to IT Store applications

Manage the maintenance of line-of-business applications according to standards of data and application architecture

Implement maintenance requests (small enhancements) to core applications

Evaluate past problem history and develop historical trends in order to improve future performance

Monitor the assigned applications for efficiency, database growth, and size

Handle application problems swiftly and accurately to minimize application disruption

Handle staff concerns pertaining to, customers, management, problems, and inquires

Assist the IT Management Team to address divisional goals, strategies, and issues

Assist Development and other Support Managers in task allocation and task delivery

Facilitate open communications within the various staffing levels; act as liaison between support team and business/client community

Provide adequate support for the after hours support of the application

Other duties and projects as assigned

Job Requirements

What your resume will include and demonstrate to us:
An Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or Business; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience

Experience in System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) application, system design, application development, testing, problem resolution, and project management

Experience improving existing IT processes by defining the existing “As-Is” process and the new “To-Be” process using proper methodologies

Experience holding requirements gathering sessions by identifying the right participants, preparing the appropriate material, reviewing the project scope, and identifying key assumptions

Ability to develop and establish application development standards

Ability to perform and evaluate risk and to communicate and escalate issues

Ability to provide knowledge transfer to more junior staff as appropriate

Ability to walk through detailed application design, program code, and test plans to make sure established standards are being followed

Ability to manage client expectations by advising the client of the consequences of actions

Ability to prototype at the requirements stage to firm up and validate requirements

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite

Solid communication skills (both oral and written)

Five or more years experience in application development is preferred

Two or more years experience in IT management is preferred
