The Centre of Excellence (COE) Team supports the Multi-Format supervision and store network to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers, improve cost control and productivity advancing our food-focused strategy. This is accomplished through Strategic development of the tools and processes, driving operational consistency and sustainability. The COE harmonizes the best practices and optimizes existing practices across all Multi-Format models.

We currently have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Lead, Retail Process at our office in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. In this role, your primary focus is on leading standardization and optimization of processes for all stores under the Sobeys Multi-Format umbrella. You will develop programs and lead initiatives designed to advance the customer experience as well as improve efficiencies. You will assess and lead the stores toward full implementation of initiatives, as well as provide on-going feedback on processes and programs.

What you’ll get to do in this fast paced role:

  • Standardize and optimize processes, procedures and systems
  • Work with other COE functions to ensure alignment on processes, impact, timing and coordination of initiatives; implement change while minimizing negative impact to the stores
  • Engage with support teams for all retail banners
  • Identify opportunities and efficiencies across the network – drive the strategy and agenda
  • Develop and execute business plans presented by Operations and COE leadership
  • Consult with all functional areas such as Operations, Finance, Category Management, Merchandising, HR, etc. to develop and communicate standardized initiatives for the retail stores
  • Ensure timely and appropriate communication to stores with respect to changes and enhancements to processes and procedures
  • Analyze store processes and participate in developing recommendations for improvement; always seeking opportunities to gain efficiencies
  • Responsible to lead all changes and improvements
  • Ensure execution excellence on all programs and initiatives launched in the business
  • Engage with support teams in each region to provide training, advice and support
  • Keep abreast of industry changes and advancements; identify future opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Create and implement follow-up processes for all initiatives to ensure compliance, sustainability and maximum financial benefits
  • Participate in action planning and working committees
  • Ensure that all organizational standards, policies, guidelines and procedures are adhered to in the execution of continuous improvement initiatives (i.e. Food Safety, OH&S, Human Resources, Merchandising, etc.)
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, where colleagues are encouraged and recognized for generating and implementing innovative ideas

Job Requirements

Required:

  • Retail Experience and/or Store Support Experience
  • Minimum three years experience as a Retail Manager or Assistant Manager, or equivalent work experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Strong knowledge of store operations
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter who will pursue specific courses of action while exhibiting high motivation and a sense of urgency
  • Ability to establish rapport with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships that are beneficial in achieving work-related goals
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to gather and assess information, formulate and evaluate alternatives and propose a recommended solution
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Effective coach and mentor

Preferred:

  • Deep understanding of in-store systems and processes
  • Full knowledge of company policies and procedure
  • Experience leading projects and people
  • Working knowledge of project planning and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience providing training to adults
  • Post secondary education
