SNC-Lavalin’s Clean Power Sector has an exciting full time career opportunity for an Energy Storage Studies and Planning Specialist to make his/her career in the area of Power Systems .

The candidate will work in a fast paced international consulting environment with excellent career growth opportunities. On a medium to long term horizon, the position also provides an opportunity to develop specialties in technical fields such as HVDC/FACTS, wind, photovoltaic systems, energy storage, microgrids, smart grids, transmission lines, underground cables, etc. In the short to medium term, the position will require the successful candidate to exercise leadership in the development of Energy Storage solutions within SNC-Lavalin Clean Power Sector both on the technical and Business Development aspects.

This position reports to the Chief Engineer, Strategic Grid Solutions directly under the umbrella of the Chief Technical Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Exercise leadership in in the following tasks (non-exhaustive list):
  • Scope and perform studies supporting Energy Storage applications within the Clean Power Sector
  • Supporting the development of the Business Strategy by providing technical advice and quantitative assessments
  • Support of the execution of the Energy Storage strategy by interacting with key clients, be a reference point within the organization and represent the Clean Power Sector as a subject matter expert
  • Prepare proposals in Energy Storage and related fields
  • Provide support in all other relevant disciplines such as system planning, network studies, HVDC/FACTS
  • Foster teamwork and support the creation of a technical team leader in the Energy Storage industry

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution (Master’s degree or higher preferred).
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, particularly in modeling, simulations and writing reports
  • Exceptional academic and extracurricular record
  • Problem solving capabilities with a focus on analysis, research, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Great communication and presentation skills
  • Great interpersonal skills, autonomy, willingness to learn and result-oriented
  • High knowledge of theoretical concepts on high-voltage electric networks
  • Eligibility for registration with an Order of Engineers is an asset
  • Proficiency in French and English languages, both spoken and written, as well as additional languages will be considered an asset.
  • Availability for local/international short-term assignments at Client offices
  • Proficiency in the following software tools (an asset): PSS®E, PSCAD, Python, PSLF, EMTP-RV, ETAP, CYME, DigSilent, SKM, PROMOD, STRATEGIST, MATLAB, SIMULINK.
