Job Description
Reporting to the Director of Energy, the Energy Engineer’s main responsibilities will include building site assessments and development of energy efficiency measures for a portfolio-wide Energy Management Program for the Ontario/Quebec regions, with particular emphasis on low-cost HVAC measures and building system controls optimization. Along with development of measures, the energy engineer will oversee the implementation of these measures across a broad portfolio, working closely with Facility Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, Project Specialists, contractors, consultants and the client.

Please note that this position is a one-year contract role.

Responsibilities
In conjunction with operating personnel (Facility Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, etc.) and through benchmarking analyses, identify and prioritize buildings requiring energy audits.
Energy analyses of utility, interval meter data and building automation system data, combined with site assessment of current equipment operation and building systems energy usage to determine energy end-use allocation; develop building-specific energy efficiency measures and associated savings calculations – primary area of analysis and measure development in low-cost HVAC measures and building controls and optimization, including retro-commissioning, controls additions/modifications and MT&R strategies. Work with Facility Managers, on-site technical staff, other energy team members and the client to drive implementation of measures.
Assist in the measurement and verification of energy savings measures per IPMVP protocols; generate M&V reports as required.

Requirements
Minimum 10-15 years experience in energy management, preferably in the identification and implementation of energy conservation measures in commercial buildings. 5-10 years specific industry experience in building automation & controls for energy management projects preferred; commissioning/retro-commissioning experience an asset.

University degree in engineering discipline (preferably mechanical or electrical); Professional Engineer designation required

In-depth knowledge of building mechanical and electrical systems and building controls.

Project Management experience in implementation of energy projects an asset.
Experience in conducting Measurement and Verification per IPMVP an asset

Sound knowledge of economic analysis tools (Life-cycle cost analysis, ROI, NPV, payback).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and planning skills.

Proficiency in report writing and in using MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
Able to obtain required security clearance.
