s Calgary Oil & Gas office provides a comprehensive range of engineering, procurement and construction services in oil sands mining, extraction & bitumen production, gas processing, petroleum refining and petrochemicals, and pipelines for the Canadian market and markets around the world.
Job Description We are seeking a General Ledger Accountant to join the Finance team. The successful candidate will report to the Country Financial Controller for Oil & Gas Canada.
This is a contract position for approximately a one year term.
The GL Accountant will perform day to day accounting activities within O&G Canada – Calgary Office in accordance with standard accounting practices as well as assist in monthly financial reporting, account reconciliation, posting journal entries and creating and updating any schedules or reports as needed.

Responsibilities
•Ensure compliance with finance and administration processes, policies and procedures related to the area of responsibility.
•Prepare reconciliation of bank statements.
•Prepare and post journal entries to general ledger accounts.
•Perform month-end F/X revaluation of GL accounts.
•Circulate, confirm and reconcile intercompany balances (Oracle/Non-Oracle/Non-JCS) on a monthly basis.
•Reconcile PFR-1 reports (001 reports) with GL (Trial Balance Detailed)
•Analyze variance between 001 reports and Trial balance and liaise with source/oracle support for correction of errors.
•Prepare interface for monthly financial reporting in conformity with Head Office guidelines.
•Liaise with various offices, provide support and respond to inquiries promptly.
•Prepare monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts with supporting documents.
•Assist in reviewing, investigating and correcting errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and schedules as assigned by Senior Corporate Accountant.
•Follow up reconciling items for clearance to ensure there are no long outstanding items.
•Assist Senior Corporate Accountant in monthly, quarterly and yearly closing processes.
•Compile Intercompany and Tax Information as required.
•Prepare annual tax and year end packages.
•Assist in providing Internal and External audits information.
•Prepare documents as requested by Head Office.
•Document, file and archive monthly journal entries/reports.
•Actively participate in identifying areas of improvement and recommending solutions.
•Undertake specific tasks as required that are commensurate with the position
Requirements
•Completed post secondary education Business, with a major in Accounting
•A minimum of 2-5 years experience of similar experience
•Attention to details
•Ability to manage and adopt changes quickly
•Strong analytical skills, prioritization and multitasking
•Advance knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office, MS Word, and Outlook
•Working experience in Oracle ERP system is a plus
•Knowledge of the Industry and area is a plus
•Ability to work flexible hours to meet demands
•Exceptional communication and strong interpersonal skills are essential
•Ability to work in a team environment
