The Business Intelligence Developer provides and enhances systems and information necessary for Sierra Wireless to make informed decisions and maintain our competitive advantage. This role requires a deep understanding of data structures and ETL best practices, combined with the technical facility to develop and support solutions that provide critical business insights. The BI Developer will maintain a focus on data quality, consistency, and timeliness. This position may collaborate with many departments of our business and will require excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities • Provides quality and timely solutions to migrate and optimize complex ETL processes
• Collaborates in a consistent, scalable and intuitive ETL architecture
• Collaborates on database/ETL design and architecture
• Identifies deficiencies in processes, data quality, usability or accuracy
• Ensures deliverables are functional, secure, well-performing, reliable, and flexible
• Documents provided solutions
• Coordinates and conducts test cases and User Acceptance Testing
• Provides impact assessments based on requested changes
• Applies industry knowledge and best practices
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Senior-level expertise in SQL Server 2014 SSIS development
· Highly desirable: working knowledge of DataStage (our legacy ETL platform)
· Demonstrated experience in Data Warehousing, ETL, Source Control and Change Management methodologies
· Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills and ability to provide creative solutions to problems and business challenges
· In-depth knowledge of relational/dimensional database design and architecture
· Proven experience in process analysis and requirements gathering
· Service orientation with a focus on reliability, service-level delivery, and quality of deliverables
· Knowledge of test case creation, Quality Assurance, and User Acceptance Testing processes
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Strong written skills, including technical writing and documentation
· Proven ability to think and work independently and as part of a team
· Ability to meet objectives within established time frames
· Ability to support critical business systems during and outside of regular office hours
