Mechanical Drives Business Unit offers the most comprehensive and complete drive train solutions in the industrial marketplace. Our line of Flender gear reducers and couplings is known for its quality and reliability for a wide range of industrial applications in mining, cement, metals, paper, petrochemical and others.

As a Business Development Specialist, you will be responsible for selling electro-mechanical products and solutions to OEMs, consulting and engineering firms as well as some end users in Quebec, Ontario and Atlantic regions. You will provide superior technical and sales support to internal and external customers. In collaboration with the Business Unit and the Sales Regions, you will develop close working relationships with new and existing customers.


  • Grow Mechanical Drives (Flender gear reducers and couplings) sales in the assigned territory
  • Develop sales forecast and provide input to budget planning
  • Track ongoing business results against set goals, develop and execute corrective actions as required
  • Collaborate with the Regional Sales Force on development and execution of account development plans
  • Analyze customer applications, size and configure gear units and couplings using software and catalog information
  • Prepare quotations based on customer specifications following internal procedures and guidelines
  • Support handling of customer complaints
  • Develop in-depth product and service knowledge through self-education and assigned trainings


  • Bachelor Degree or Technical Diploma in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of industrial sales experience (material handling, mining, oil and gas, chemicals etc.)
  • Working knowledge of drive train components (motors, gear units, couplings) is a definite asset
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of project management would be an asset
  • Very good knowledge of French both written and spoken
  • Very good knowledge of English both written and spoken
  • Proficient with MS-Office suite
  • Working knowledge of CRM applications (SAP, Oracle or others)
  • Available to travel within the assigned territory on a regular basis, minimum 50% of time
