Reporting to the Supervisor, Network Infrastructure the
Database Administrator
will be responsible for assisting with
daily database operations
including our client’s
SQL Server and Oracle database
infrastructure encompassing all production and non-production environments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with the Senior DBA, Development teams, and other internal teams.
Application support requests for data updates and extracts
Supporting
SQL jobs
Backup and recovery
Maintain, update and debug
various reporting applications.
Create custom reports
as needed
Assist with maintenance,
upgrading and monitoring of the MSSQL database environment
Assist in tuning, and performance monitoring
of all relational databases.
Performs routine space and consistency checks
Maintain database maintenance plans
(for backup/recovery/optimization) and proactively monitor database environments to ensure secure database services with minimum downtime.
Ensure availability and performance of databases
that support Line of Business systems across the enterprise
Respond quickly and effectively to production database environment issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through to resolution
Maintain documentation
describing new and existing database environments
Provides support for various database and SQL issues
fielded by Service Desk and Operations
Provides quality customer service through ongoing communication, feedback, and follow-through
REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science or a technology field
Hands on experience with SQL Server 2005/2008/2012/2014/2016 tables, queries, views and stored procedures
Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
Knowledge of indexes, index maintenance and statistics
Eagerness to grow and develop skill set
Must be
detail oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and team skills
Ability to work independently,
often under pressure of deadlines
Flexibility of working occasional evening/weekend hours, if necessary
