SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Edmonton, AB

Description:
• Code, test and document related script modifications.
• Perform DBMS software installations, plan and test upgrades.
• Plan, test and implement software patches and application updates or upgrades.
• Disaster recovery preparation and testing.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation.
• Develop and automate system related procedures.
• Perform problem diagnosis, trouble shooting and resolution.
• Monitor on-going operations and perform on-going system administration tasks: release new versions; database tuning; capacity planning; historical archiving; database consistency and integrity checking; log file analysis; job scheduling; shell scripting; change control; and server requirements analysis
• Log and validate database change requests (both data fixes and schema changes) and execute those change requests
• Assist project teams with database designs with regard to performance and standards.
• Providing consultative services to clients on database best practices
• Pro-actively work with teams to identify areas where database tuning will be required, either immediately or in the near future
• Monitor and ensure that the data is secure as reasonable from both a process and access perspective
• Demonstrated DBA experience within a large complex environment of similar size and complexity to that stated in the posting description
• Experience with any version of SQL Server (but SQL Server 2012 is preferred).
• Experience with T-SQL
