Global Regina’s News Department is currently seeking a full-time Director/Producer to join their team. This position is part of the Global News team which produces local newscasts seven days a week. This position reports directly to the News Director.

The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position:

• Operation of MOSART automated control room application
• Preparing MOSART rundowns for air, programming production fonts, entering MOSART commands into ENPS and double checking rundowns for quality control
• Assist other MOSART Operators and Producers in preparation and quality control of MOSART rundowns for air
• Communicate clearly to talent and production while the show is on the air
• Creatively work with graphics and production staff with the look and feel of the show
• Technical initialization, facilities checks and operation of camera robotics, video switchers, audio boards, character generators, Teleprompters, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Shift involves working late night/ early morning shifts, as well as other shifts as required. May involve working regular weekends.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Degree or diploma in Journalism or Broadcast Technology from a recognized institution.
• Broadcast control room experience including knowledge of switcher capabilities, editing capabilities, graphic and font department capabilities, audio capabilities, and camera robotics.
• Comprehensive computer knowledge, including knowledge of newsroom management systems (i.e. ENPS, Aurora, Mos).
• Have good math skills for fast calculations and accurate stopwatch and back timing skills.
• Proven abilities as a Team Player with a positive attitude.
• Self-starter with good communication skills.
• Experience with automated control room operations is an asset.
• ENG photography and non-linear editing experience.
• Understanding of how major news organizations are employing a wide range of digital platforms and formats.
• Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
• Shows a willingness to learn new online skills and be familiar with online news reporting.
• Working knowledge of new media tools and technologies (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc), and related applications.
• Ability to handle the demands and pressure of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment.
