The Director Brand Strategy is accountable for delivering business growth for a portfolio of Specialty Channels, both short-term (achieving audience targets) and long-term (building equity in the network brands), as well as managing and developing a brand marketing team. We currently have an opening for a creative candidate with experience in a supervisory marketing or advertising to join Shaw Media on a contract basis to cover a maternity leave.
The successful candidate will:
1. Create and oversee the marketing strategies for a portfolio of specialty brands that to drive viewership and brand affinity
2. Develop and implement relevant and meaningful campaigns using internal resource teams and creative agency that will motivate behavior and drive audiences across our band platforms
3. Oversee the prioritization and promotion of key channel initiatives to meet established KPIs and audience targets
4. Own and leverage viewer data, competitive dynamics to create insights that inform decisions making and brand strategies across platforms
5. Be seen as a leader and a key business stakeholder for channel business
Direct internal media planning/buying team, working closely with the Director, Media Strategy, to ensure strategic use of media budget and on-air inventory.
Provide strong leadership, training and coaching to the brand management team
Work collaboratively with Content, Digital, Original Programming, Sales and Research departments to ensure alignment of objectives, coordination of efforts, consistent messaging and profitable network growth.
Establish and maintain partnerships with key external network partners
Manage on-air inventory to ensure a superior viewing experience and optimal opportunities for cross-promotion of key priorities
Evaluate and oversee management of all brand sponsorships to ensure achievement of KPIs
Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Broadcasting, Business an asset
Minimum capacity, preferably with a media centric organization
Extensive experience leading brand strategy, advertising planning, creative development and media management
Strong creative skills (based on experience and strong creative intuition) with a proven ability to recognize and help develop effective creative
Experience leading and developing teams
Savvy in the areas of TV entertainment, social media and digital/emerging platforms
Superior, results-oriented leadership, management and interpersonal skills
Ability to build productive and collaborative relationships
Able to follow, adapt and react to a fast-paced, ever-changing broadcast environment and to multi task
Self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial spirit; able to identify and act-upon new opportunities
Clear understanding of the broadcasting environment and processes
Analytical skills (ability to understand and interpret consumer/audience research and data)
Charismatic: strong presence and credibility
Big picture view (understands and is able to inform business goals and strategy)
Dynamic and able to keep up with fast pace, not aggressive
Demonstrates initiative and is results oriented
Loves TV and is generally media savvy
