The Operations Support Advisor will work as part of the Technical Services team to assist field operations staff in the training and mentoring of operational tasks. This role is to assist with the improvement and development of standard operating practices for oil, water and solids processing. To ensure consistency in operating best practices to maximize facility throughput, safe operation and capture key learnings that align with the division plans.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety leadership
  • Training and development of standard operating procedures
  • Training of new processes and equipment, assist with commissioning activities
  • Train and assist with equipment turn around activities
  • Troubleshooting process system upsets
  • Capture of key learnings for operation training and facility design improvements
  • Assist in the Short Service Worker and JHA training programs and improvements
  • Computer knowledge and skills, process monitoring programs (OSI PI)
  • Field Travel 80+ %

Qualifications & Competencies:

The successful candidate will have:

  • 3+ years of process operating experience, pumps, centrifuges, waste treating, injection well protection and oil treating
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a training environment
  • Willing to travel to various locations assisting with training and start ups for extended periods of time
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a teaching role, one on one or in classroom settings
  • Exceptional listening and clarifying skills, must be able to produce tangible materials from concepts and/or verbal instruction.
  • Technical diploma would be a strong asset
  • Valid Class 5 driver license
  • Solid working knowledge of MS Office programs

Please note that preference will be given to candidates that reside in South East Alberta or Western Saskatchewan.
