Position: Temporary-Full

Time Primary Teacher (K4-Kindergarten)

Term: March 30 to

June 26, 2015

Shihiya School is a band-run school owned and operated by

the Splatsin Indian Band. We are located in the interior of British Columbia

adjacent to the city of Enderby. We are the southernmost band of the Secwepemc

(Shuwap) people. We are a certified FNSA school and are committed to

consistency and competency in our programs and approaches. If you value high

Typical Duties and

Responsibilities:
Be a part of a school-wide collaborating

teaching team

Partake in extra-curricular and cultural

community events

Plan and deliver curriculum for K4 (FNSA ELO’s)

and Kindergarten as per BC Provincial IRPs

Qualifications

required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from a

recognized post-secondary Instituition

Possession of a valid BC certificate

Prior knowledge of the Secwepemc people and

territory, along with experience in a First Nation

community is preferred

Experience with Saxon Math, DIBELS and Read Well

Reading Program is preferred

Must be able to

provide a valid criminal record check

Salary and

Benefits:
Comparable to SD#83 pay grid
