Term – 4 months (May-August)
Reporting to the Manager, Community Relations, the Community Relations Intern is responsible for general administrative support for Community Relations activities. This position will assist with a variety of events including appearances, community events, and school tours through planning, execution and evaluation activities. The position will work closely with Community Relations team to share information and coordination activities so all Community Relations initiatives are successful.
Support the organizational and administrative needs of the Community Relations department.
Track, fill, and respond to incoming donation requests in a timely and professional manner.
Participate in the detailed planning of special events under the guidance of the Community Relations work unit.
Provide organizational and on site set-up support at Club events across Saskatchewan.
Interact with and support sponsor at events across Saskatchewan to meet their needs.
Upkeep data base of information and contracts to track the various Club events and potential opportunities.
Update the events calendar on a weekly basis so it is accurate, up to date, and shared with the Rider work units.
Gather information, photographs, etc. at events for webpage publication to promote events and recognize sponsor activities.
Complete administrative duties including mailings, information gathering and communication to volunteer planners.
Provide administrative and organizational support to the Community Relations work unit for regular season events.
Participate in post-project evaluation to determine overall success of Community Relations events in relation to goals and success factors.
Support organizational events and programs as needed.
Lead and coordinate a (to be determined) Community Relations project.
Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
2-3 years post-secondary study towards kinesiology, business, marketing or sports degree.
One year related experience in an office environment.
Proven skill in juggling multiple priorities and attention to detail in a fast paced work environment with shifting priorities.
Proficiency in using computer software including spreadsheets, databases, internet based systems, email, etc.
Understanding of the sales and marketing process is required as the work environment is extremely customer focused
Demonstrate professionalism and maturity in responding to staff, sponsors and the public who raise issues or complaints.
Independent thinking style that demonstrates a willingness to raise issues with coworkers and project planners to ensure appropriate resolution of customer concerns.
Team oriented style with a “can do” service focus to achieve organizational results.
Must be physically fit and able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 10 kgs.
Availability to work irregular work schedule and be able to travel.
Must have current, valid driver’s license and access to a highway ready vehicle for assigned travel.
