Your role as a part-time instructor at Saskatchewan Polytechnic will be supported through instructional materials and on-going employer provided training. This may include a requisite faculty certificate program depending on your employment status in future positions. This initiative will develop our instructors professionally while ensuring a high quality learning experience for all Saskatchewan Polytechnic students.

Job Duties
1. Plan, develop and deliver classroom and workplace instruction which will facilitate the learning of work related skills, including employment preparation, job search and personal management skills.
2. Instruct students in the use of internet, database and other applications relevant to labour market preparation activities.
3. Provide appropriate & relevant career assessment & information on personal, career related & employment issues.
4. Provide assessment and instruction in academic, teamwork and personal management skills.
5. Assist trainees with the support and counselling necessary to assist them in making appropriate career decisions.
6. Maintain current labour market information and contact with employers, visiting worksites and providing direction to trainees and workplace trainers.
7. Liaise with employers, as required, to facilitate the placement of students at the workplace.
8. Facilitate the evaluation of students’ workplace performance and provide feedback and adjust training plans accordingly.
9. Assist with the development of training plans for worksite training.
10. Manage an adult centered learning environment, establish rapport, encourage aspirations and facilitate problem solving in a non-threatening environment.
11. Complete and maintain student record forms; ensure a system for the efficient utilization of instructional materials and other resources.


Specific Accountabilities


Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Degree in Education or related subject area with studies in adult education and career counselling OR an equivalent combination of formal education and directly related experience.
2. Two years recent and relevant experience teaching adults in career/employment related programs.
3. Experience and/or training in counselling and group facilitation (i.e. RT/CT, Life Skills Coach, etc.).
4. Qualified and experienced in the use of career assessment tools.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of and involvement with local business community and labour market.
6. Demonstrated ability in the use of internet for career exploration and development, and current software applications including Windows, Word for Windows and Access.
7. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with learners from diverse backgrounds including First Nations, and people with disabilities.
8. Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal and personal management skills.
9. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
10. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
