Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. This summer student position will have the opportunity to gain excellent experience in SIIT’s Trades & Industrial department. Reporting to the Dean of T&I, the incumbent provides administrative functions within the T&I department­ while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and careful handling of highly confidential and sensitive information.

You will have the opportunity to learn and support us by:

  • Answering and directing routine inquires and promptly responding to inquiries as required
  • Answering the phone in accordance with SIIT standards; transfer calls where appropriate and taking messages as required
  • Greeting and interacting with clients and visitors in a timely, professional and pleasant manner; coupled with determining the nature of visitor’s business and providing appropriate information
  • Providing administrative assistance to the department in order to support the accomplishment of business activities
  • Coordinating all logistics of meeting requests including booking rooms, setting up and taking down of technology requirements, catering and refreshment requirements, as well as, travel and accommodation requirements as required
  • Receiving, sorting, and sending mail, courier packages, and faxes
  • Purchasing and maintaining adequate supply levels as required, such as general office and coffee supplies
  • Assist with contacting apprentices and updating information in system

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Must have completed one full year of post-secondary education in a business or related program, and be returning to school in the fall of 2017 . Must be prompt, reliable, and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with a high level of confidentiality. Prior experience working with Microsoft Office suite of programs is required; Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions is considered an asset.
