Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. This summer student position will have the opportunity to gain excellent experience in SIIT’s Employment Development & Career Services department. Reporting to the Manager of Case Management, the incumbent will provide support on department initiatives.

You will have the opportunity to learn and support us by:

  • Researching the labour market industry and assist with determining program priorities
  • Assisting with records management, records destruction and file maintenance – physical and electronic, as well as, the retention and destruction of documents
  • Performing data entry, compiling and organizing information and material as it relates to department initiatives
  • Assisting with the preparation, coordination and facilitation of workshops and events
  • Assisting clients with resume building, registration and onboarding
  • Answering the phone in accordance with SIIT standards; transferring calls where appropriate and taking messages as required
  • Greeting and interacting with clients and visitors in a timely, professional and pleasant manner
  • Providing administrative support to the EDCS department; handling and processing documents with confidentiality and compliance
  • Receiving, sorting, and sending mail, courier packages, and faxes
  • Coordinating all logistics of meetings including all correspondence of attendees – internal and external

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Must have completed one full year of post-secondary education in a business or related program, and be returning to school in the fall of 2017 . Must be prompt, reliable, and exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills, coupled with a high level of confidentiality. Prior experience working with Microsoft Office suite of programs is required. Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions is considered an asset. Some travel may be required.
