Manager Media Relations

Job Description Are you a news junkie? Can you go head-to-head with a hard-nosed reporter? Can you get your point across in 140 characters or less? #newshound! If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, we want to hear from you. Join our Strategy, Marketing and Communications division as the permanent, full-time Manager, Media Relations in Regina. Every day you’ll be handling requests and fielding questions from reporters across the country. You’ll need to track down the answers and respond quickly (and yes, that means you’ll be in front of the camera.) You’ll do a lot of writing, and some event planning. You’ll also prepare other spokespeople to respond to media asks, and oversee SGI’s social media team – a busy group who spend their days responding to customer inquires and reminding all of us how to drive safely.

Qualifications Candidates must bring the education and experience to succeed in this unique opportunity — after all, we’re counting on you. We’re looking for candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English or a related discipline. Candidates should have a minimum of five years experience in communications, including at least three years experience as a corporate media spokesperson in communications and/or media relations in a corporate business environment. An alternative combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.
