Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will assist in maintaining the Special Needs Equipment program fleet of power and manual wheelchairs to ensure that they are safe and in good working order, following policies and procedures established by the Saskatchewan Aids to Independent Living Program and the Saskatchewan Abilities Council. The successful candidate will also act as the supervisor of the Regina depot to provide on-site support, direction and leadership to the Special Needs Equipment team and provide performance feedback to Special Needs Equipment Manager. Duties include:

 Measure, fabricate, fit, adjust and repair a fleet of power and manual wheelchairs to meet requisition requirements

 Work directly with therapists and other healthcare professionals to perform equipment modifications/repairs and new equipment set up, schedule and conduct fitting appointments with clients and therapists so final positioning, and programming adjustments can be completed to address client needs

 Oversee the wheelchair equipment stock (returned chairs) and provide regular updates to Special Needs Equipment Manager regarding inventory and relevance to outstanding requisitions

 Clean and refurbish other returned program equipment to ensure a ‘recycle first’ environment  Provide supervisory support including monitoring depot and individual levels of production, providing feedback on

performance, and reporting to Special Needs Equipment Manager on depot and/or personnel challenges

 Assist with new staff hiring process including interviewing and orientation and providing on-going training and support

 Maintain good working relationships with medical professionals, suppliers and the general public

 Other duties as assigned Qualifications:

Education:

 Grade 12

 Valid driver’s licence

Experience:

 Previous experience dealing with customer service issues, conflict resolution, handling confidential medical information, working with a wide variety of people (clients, caregivers, therapists and other health care professionals)

 Previous supervisory experience Skills:

 Supervisory, conflict resolution, mediation and leadership skills

 Basic electronics and circuitry knowledge, use of power and hand tools

 Basic computer/keyboarding skills

 Ability to multi-task and handle competing priorities; strong organizational and problem solving skills
